Looking to sing in the festival chorus?
Pacific Chorale’s Choral Festival returns to the Concert Hall, uniting hundreds of singers from throughout and beyond the community in a program featuring a choral favorite, Schubert’s reverent Mass No. 2 in G.
Written in less than a week when Schubert was just 18, the Mass in G major was not published until 18 years after his death in 1828. The mass is one of the most popular settings of the Ordinary (the six sections of text of the Christian Mass): the charming song-like melodic writing, especially in the Kyrie and the Credo, forms a magical counterpoint to more concertante passages in the Gloria and the Sanctus.
