Highlights: Chichester Psalms

After Pacific Chorale's annual gala, we closed our 56th season with a very special program in the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, Costa Mesa on June 1, 2024. (All photos © Doug Gifford Photography)

Beginning with Sarah Kirkland Snider’s glorious and riveting Mass for the Endangered, Pacific Chorale chamber choir and Pacific Symphony's chamber orchestra mesmerized the audience.

After intermission, the full force of Pacific Chorale delighted listeners with Holst’s crystalline Psalm 148 and a stunning, newly-commissioned work by Frank Ticheli called Listen to the Silence, dedicated to our season sponsors Phillip N. and Mary A. Lyons.

Finally Bernstein’s spirited and dynamic Chichester Psalms closed the season! Artistic Director Robert Istad lead Pacific Symphony and Pacific Chorale with treble soloists Kareem Sater & Jacob Thompson from Southern California Children's Chorus, soprano Chelsea Chaves, mezzo-soprano Jane Hyun-Jung Shim, tenor Nicholas Preston, and baritone Matthew Kellaway.
